Island Royale is directly on the beach in what they call the West Beach section of Gulf Shores.  There are a lot of houses, smaller condo complexes and a few fairly large complexes in this area of the beach.  Our neighbors are a 16 unit building and an empty lot, so you will always have lots of space on the beach. Our building has 16 floors (14 with living units) so it is a nice size but not overly large, there are 6 units per floor.

The building has a tremendous variety of extras for you.  The indoor-outdoor swim-through pool is heated and available year round.  There is also an indoor hot tub and an outdoor hot tub.

On the third floor you will find an office if you just have to work, a steam room, sauna, and very nicely equipped exercise room.  The office includes wi-fi.  Each unit in the building has free high speed wi-fi.

There is a grilling area with tables for your outdoor enjoyment.  The board walk takes you directly onto the beach just steps from the water!  We also have a bike rack, and our unit is in such a location that biking to virtually anything is an ease.  Gulf Shores has developed a nice trail of bike routes for your biking safety.

We are also located within walking distance of a great number of establishments:

Pier 33 – right across the street you can pick up needed groceries.  They also have a great selection of beach items and souvenirs.

Bahama Bob’s – the popular beach front restaurant has some great fried seafood.  This is a 2 minute walk from our building!

Souvenir City – the iconic store with the big shark opening is a Gulf Shores institution.  You have to visit when here.  The place is normally so crowded it is difficult to park. Lucky for us, we can walk from our unit… please note it is a good 10 or 15 minute walk.
Additional restaurants, souvenir stores, beach gear is located within this 10 – 15 minute radius including some of our favorites Old World Pizza, Gulf Shores Steamer, the Hangout.

Gulf State Park is just a few minutes further with trails, a Nature Center and bird watching aplenty.

Other attractions include a waterpark, arcades, zoo, movie theater, bowling, ice cream shops… plenty of things to keep you busy if you want to have some time away from the beach.
